"One of the greatest lessons from history that I’ve learned … is that the only thing necessary for bad things that happen in any democracy is for good people to say nothing."

- Senator Cory Booker

What’s Expected of Committee Members
More details can be found in the How to Serve on the Trenton Municipal Committee training guide.

Meetings
Attend the annual meetings of the Trenton Democratic Committee, especially the candidate meeting typically held in March, where members discuss and determine which local candidates best represent Democratic Party values and should be recommended for the slogan.

County Convention
Attend the Mercer County Convention in March and vote to endorse county, state, and national candidates. There are also periodic meetings of the Mercer County Democratic Committee that you are encouraged to attend.

Fundraiser
Attend, support, and contribute to the Annual Trenton Democratic Committee fundraiser, which honors community members who have advanced Democratic ideals. Funds raised help cover the cost of voter lists, supplies, and materials needed to Get Out The Vote. The Committee may also make campaign contributions.

Calling, Canvassing, and Distribution of Democratic Party Literature
Before the June Primary Election and the November General Election, help organize volunteers to register voters, make reminder calls to voters, and distribute campaign literature throughout the community.

The Lower Trenton Bridge, famously adorned with the slogan "TRENTON MAKES THE WORLD TAKES," was originally constructed in 1806 as the first bridge to span the Delaware River. The current steel truss structure, completed in 1928, replaced earlier versions to accommodate increasing traffic demands. The iconic sign, installed in 1935, was updated with LED lighting in 2018, allowing for vibrant, programmable displays that continue to symbolize Trenton's industrial heritage and resilience.
